Time kept it's separate pace.
The days of waiting were over.
----
I woke up on a rather chilly Monday. My dusky brown eyes had searched around the room. Where was the nurse? Ah, it probably wasn't her job to wake me up this early. I suddenly remembered; today was the day to go to my new apartment. Excitement flowed through me at an insane pace. I was so incredibly happy, but I tried not to show it.

It was almost like the cut on my chest could heal more and more almost every day. That was impossible, but I liked to think of it that way, for some reason.
Lost in happiness and thought, the nurse came in. This time she came with a doctor, who I had never seen before. I looked at them, my emotions full of color. I could only hope they had something positive to say.

"Minhee," the nurse began. "Today is the day you go home. All of your illnesses have gone for the most part, but you should still take an occasional antibiotic."
They both smiled at me in a happy manor. I couldn't help but return the favor. Today was the day. I couldn't believe it.
"We'll give you two hours to do anything you need to do before you go," said the doctor. I nodded and got up a bit slowly. Who was that doctor? How come he never came in? I thought every patient needed both a doctor and a nurse. Maybe I was wrong. Then again, it wasn't like it mattered anyway. I needed to stop thinking so hard. It made me constantly overwhelmed.
Shining through the window next to me was a beautiful, almost red sun. It beamed into the room like a fierce flame. It was gorgeous. It was probably the first sun I'd seen like that for a while now. I smiled a bit at the thought of it.
Suddenly, I glanced at the pink flower placed on the table. It looked so bright, so full of light and life. Why was I feeling like this? I felt...happy. It was an unusual feeling for someone who had been placed in the dark for so long.
--
After changing my clothes and packing my leftover possessions, I followed the nurse and the doctor, who wanted to say goodbye. He put his arm around her and walked us there. I would miss the nurse. I really hoped I could talk to her again someday, but hopefully not at the hospital.

Wrapping a scarf around my neck, a bright yellow taxi pulled up to the front. They must have called the driver earlier, I thought to myself. I put my small case into the cab and then jumped in. Rolling down the window, I kept my eye on the nurse. She smiled at me, a little sorrowfully, and then I spotted a tear roll down her cheek. Thinking of how long we had talked, I did the same as she.
"Stay safe, dear," she said, a little quieter than she usually spoke.
"Thank you...I'll try to," I began. "I...I forgot to ask...what is your name?" I needed to know.
"You'll find out one day...goodbye, dear," she said, as the taxi suddenly drove off. I whispered under my breath a final goodbye.

Wiping tears from my eyes, I looked at my surroundings through the window. I hoped we were almost to my apartment. I wanted to feel at home. I wouldn't worry myself to death about it, though; I'd be there soon enough.
--
Surprisingly, an hour passed. We were deep into the midst of the city. It was exiting, because there were so many things I wanted to do. Just from the car window, I could see coffee shops, street food stands, clothing stores, markets... all right in front of me. Now that I was going to live in the city, there were a lot of new possibilities. I felt so free. Maybe I could finally breathe.
Ugh I almost cried towards the end LOL
